 Organizers

The original WMC organizers met on social media in November 2016, coming together in a grassroots effort to reject the 2016 presidential campaign’s negative and dangerous rhetoric through a Chicago-based rally and March. The inaugural 2017 Chicago March occurred at the same time as thousands of events across the globe. It was not, however, affiliated with any other Marches or leadership teams, including the national Women’s March on Washington, D.C. The Chicago March — to everyone’s surprise — drew an estimated 250,000 attendees and was one of the world’s largest that historic day!

Women’s March Chicago, a 501c3/501c4 entity, continues today as a highly-visible independent, local organization led by a team of diverse women from the greater Chicago area. This all-volunteer board of directors works closely with an outstanding slate of state and local organizing partners and dedicated volunteers on WMC’s annual Marches, as well as other progressive events, calls to action and legislative initiatives.
